Job Description

Overview

This position is part of the City of Peoria Co-Responder Social Services Unit (SSU), a state-funded grant program. SSU clinical personnel assist individuals who come into contact with or are referred to the program. The role supports safer interactions between community members in crisis and police personnel while maintaining a high standard of professional service. It also focuses on connecting individuals to appropriate mental health, substance use, and other needs-based services to support stability and contribute to a healthier, safer community. In collaboration with the Peoria Police Department (PPD), this position provides primarily community-based crisis intervention, assessment, evaluation, stabilization, case management, follow-up, and referrals. The role includes frequent field response throughout the city of Peoria, alongside PPD to provide mobile mental and behavioral health services to community members.

License/Certifications:

Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)

Education:
Master's Degree: Social Work (Required)

Experience Requirements

  • 1 year of related experience preferred

Ability to work with all different age groups. Basic computer skills/ability to keyboard – completing documentation in the electronic and/or paper medical record. Ability to drive in a variety of weather conditions. Ability to perform de-escalation techniques. Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position. Work requires travel to respond to crisis incidents with the Peoria Police Department and/or follow-up appointments. Ability to work under time constraints. Ability to understand and deal effectively with problems and opportunities. Ability to deal with people effectively, patiently and respond professionally in all situations. Ability to maintain confidential information. Ability to interact and communicate with law enforcement, medical staff, and other community providers effectively. Communicates effectively in-person, through email; responds in a timely manner to voicemails. Uses effective means to educate others about mental illness and addiction. Serves as a resource for individuals and community providers for community resources and how to access them. Has an understanding of and complies with Illinois’ Mental Health & Developmental Disabilities Code. Serves as a mandated reporter and ensures reports are filed with appropriate parties. Participates in clinical supervision as outlined by immediate supervisor, and keeps supervisor informed of clinical issues, concerns and outcomes. Demonstrates the Trillium Place Values and Standards of Behaviors as well as adheres to policies and procedures and safety guidelines. Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with regular, reliable attendance. Employee maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position. Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, TJC, DNV, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare. Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year. Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.

  • Reach a resolution of crisis that is clinically appropriate and least restrictive.
  • Recognize, respect, and effectively deal with values and cultural beliefs of clients, their families, and community resources and referrals.
  • Works with law enforcement, emergency departments, and other emergency personnel in crisis situations.
  • Provides follow up case management as assigned.
  • Maintains appropriate boundaries with clients and family members
  • Completes and maintains client/patient documentation in a timely manner, ensuring compliance with agency protocols and communication standards

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $29.29per hour - $50.38per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
