Role Description The Security Officer role is a full-time, on-site position located in the Greater Madison Area. Security Officers are responsible for patrolling assigned premises, monitoring entrances and exits, and observing activities to deter and detect suspicious or unsafe behavior. Daily tasks include conducting security checks, reporting incidents and safety hazards, responding to alarms, and contacting emergency services or management as needed. The role also involves enforcing site policies, maintaining detailed and accurate incident reports, and providing courteous assistance to employees, visitors, and clients. Security Officers are expected to follow all agency and client procedures, use security equipment appropriately, and collaborate with supervisors to ensure a safe and secure environment. Qualifications Candidates should possess strong observation and situational awareness skills, with the ability to identify and respond to security risks calmly and effectively. Candidates should possess solid communication and interpersonal skills, including clear verbal and written reporting and professional interaction with clients, employees, and visitors. Candidates should possess basic problem-solving and de-escalation skills, with sound judgment in handling conflicts, emergencies, and policy enforcement. Candidates should possess the ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods, and handle moderate physical activity consistent with security duties. Candidates should possess reliability and professionalism, including punctuality, adherence to uniform and grooming standards, and commitment to client service. High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; prior security, military, or law enforcement experience is a plus. Ability to obtain and maintain any required Wisconsin state security licenses; clean background suitable for security work.
