Job Description

Job TitleUnder the supervision of the Sr. School Operations Manager & Handyman/Custodian is responsible for maintaining assigned areas of buildings and grounds (including but not limited to Main Classroom Building and Community Center) in a clean, sanitary, and safe condition. This is a part time, non-exempt, hourly position.Responsibilities and DutiesSweeping, dusting and mopping of all floors and baseboardsHallways, lobby, admin office, classrooms, food prep room and loungeClean lint, dust and wipe down classroom desk and other furnitureVacuum carpets from library and wipe down furniture within libraryCleans all restrooms and restocks paper and soap suppliesRemove any graffiti from walls, desks, furniture, etc.Performs routine maintenance to custodial equipment and suppliesEmpties trash receptacles and bags trash for proper disposal inside and outsideLocks doors and turns off lights after cleaning areasEnsures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practicesAssists in loading and unloading of supplies as neededArranges boxes, materials, and other supplies in a neat and orderly mannerSets up tables and chairs for various functions and events as requiredAssists in maintenance of grounds and exterior of the building i.e. pick up trash in parking lotAssists maintenance personnel in major repair workOpens and secures the building when necessaryIdentify and report potential safety hazards within the school building and groundsFollow all safety protocols and proceduresShift regular work hours as needed to accommodate repairs that affect classrooms or other spaces used during the school dayOther duties as assignedQualificationsEducation, Experience and RequirementsHigh School degree or GED preferredExperience with cleaning materials, such as soap, detergents, and solventsKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of methods of cleaning floors, lavatories, and other areas of school buildingsGeneral grounds maintenance practices, experience with machinery and equipmentAbility to safely use common power and hand tools.Knowledge of basic carpentry skills.Attention to detail, positive attitude and strong work ethic.Self-starter with good time management skills, well organized and apt at problem solving.Commitment to LA Promise Fund mission and Core Values of Integrity, Accountability, Collaboration, Professionalism, Excellence, Diversity and FairnessMust clear a LiveScan criminal background checkMust clear a TB Risk AssessmentMust complete Mandated Reporter training
