Locum Tenens Pediatrician
We are seeking a Pediatrician (MD/DO) for a locum tenens assignment providing 24-hour call coverage in a critical access hospital setting in Florence, Oregon .
The assignment requires 14–21 days of coverage per month . The physician will provide inpatient pediatric and neonatal care, including deliveries and newborn admissions, while working independently with access to tele-neonatology support .
The current approval is through January 14, 2027 , with an ASAP start .
The opportunity is with a Critical Access Hospital with:
‣ 21 inpatient beds
‣ Adult Trauma Level IV designation
‣ Inpatient pediatric and neonatal services
‣ Approximately 6–7 births per month
‣ Average patient volume of approximately 1 patient per day
‣ Tele-neonatology available for support
‣ The physician will be working solo
‣ Anticipated callback volume is approximately 1–2 nights per week
Pay Rate: Details can be discussed further after applying to the job posting.
‣ Provide 24-hour call coverage for deliveries and newborn admissions.
‣ Manage newborns following delivery and pediatric patients requiring inpatient care.
‣ Provide admissions as required.
‣ Provide neonatal and pediatric care within the scope of privileges.
‣ Perform neonatal resuscitation when clinically required.
‣ Respond to delivery-related calls and newborn admissions.
‣ Remain within 30 minutes of the hospital at all times while on call.
‣ Work independently with access to tele-neonatology support.
‣ Participate in required clinical activity and credentialing processes.
‣ Provide documentation demonstrating relevant pediatric or family medicine clinical activity within the required timeframe.
‣ MD or DO
‣ Board Certified in Pediatrics or Family Medicine
‣ NRP certification – required
‣ Epic EMR experience
‣ Experience providing inpatient, outpatient, or consultative services within the requested scope of privileges
‣ Ability to provide neonatal and pediatric care
‣ Ability to perform neonatal resuscitation
‣ Must meet the required recent clinical activity/case-log requirements
Pediatrics applicants:
‣ Applicants must demonstrate provision of inpatient, outpatient, or consultative pediatric services in the privileges requested.
‣ Physicians who recently completed residency may provide a residency log .
‣ Physicians who have worked in pediatric hospital medicine within the last 3 years must provide a quality profile from hospitals where they have held privileges showing clinical activity for the previous 24 months .
‣ Applicants who have not worked in pediatric hospital medicine within 3 years of credentialing may demonstrate competency through case logs from the preceding 24 months .
Family Medicine applicants:
‣ Must provide documentation of family medicine services representative of the scope and complexity of the requested privileges during the previous 24 months .
‣ Applicants who completed family medicine training within the previous year must provide a training log .
Licensure:
‣ Oregon medical license preferred.
‣ Candidates without an Oregon license may be considered if the estimated licensing timeline is reasonable and immediate candidates are available for application.
‣ For candidates without an Oregon license, the license ETA must be included with application .
‣ Candidates seeking a start sooner than approximately 90+ days , including an October start, must have an Oregon license in hand .
‣ Oregon Medical Staff and CVO do not allow fast-tracking without an Oregon license in hand.
‣ 24-hour call shifts: 7:00 AM–7:00 AM
‣ Coverage required 14–21 days per month
‣ 24/7 unrestricted call applies specifically to deliveries and admitting newborns after delivery.
‣ Physician must remain within 30 minutes of the hospital at all times while on call.
‣ Start: ASAP
‣ Coverage includes day, night, and weekend responsibilities.
‣ No block schedule.
‣ Approximately 6–7 births per month .
‣ Anticipated callback volume: approximately 1–2 nights per week .
‣ Holiday coverage may apply, including New Year's Day, Labor Day, Independence Day, Memorial Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
‣ Holiday coverage window: 7:00 PM the day before through 7:00 AM the day after .
