Job Description

Workers Compensation/General Liability Premium Auditor - Field & Hybrid

$30 Per Billable Hour base rate for audits conducted strictly from home, rates up to $45 per billable hour for audits done on site.

Join a Leader in the Insurance Audit Industry | Flexible Schedule | Work from home|

RLD Associates, Inc. is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Premium Auditor to join our growing team. This is a full-time remote position responsible for servicing the Philadelphia, PA territory. As a Premium Auditor, you will be conducting both physical field audits at insured locations throughout your assigned territory, and hybrid audits, which are completed entirely from a home office using phone interviews, email correspondence, and electronic document review. This combination provides a strong balance of independence, variety, and earning potential while ensuring consistent workflow throughout the year.

What You'll Do

Commercial insurance premiums for workers compensation and general liability are considered variable premium policies as they are based on an estimate of payrolls, sales, and other costs. As a Premium Auditor, you will verify actual exposures at the end of a policy period by reviewing financial records, conducting client interviews, and performing either on-site or remote audits.

This position is ideal for professionals who enjoy working independently, building relationships with business owners, and spending time in the field while maintaining the flexibility to complete additional audits remotely.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review assigned audit requests, including Workers' Compensation and General Liability policies
  • Manage and prioritize a territory-based audit inventory
  • Contact insureds to schedule audit appointments and maintain professional communication throughout the audit process
  • Conduct on-site and virtual audits of business operations and financial records
  • Examine payroll records, tax filings, general ledgers, cash disbursements, and other accounting documents
  • Research and apply insurance classification and rating rules in accordance with carrier guidelines and industry standards
  • Interview business owners and key personnel to obtain accurate exposure information
  • Prepare detailed, professional audit reports utilizing Microsoft Excel and proprietary systems
  • Deliver exceptional customer service while representing both RLD Associates and our carrier clients

Territory & Travel

This position is responsible for the Philadelphia, PA territory.

  • Physical audits require regular travel throughout your assigned territory, which may include up to a 60-mile radius surrounding Philadelphia, PA
  • Travel may be up to 3–4 days per week, depending on field audit assignments
  • Home-based remote position offering significant scheduling flexibility
  • Manage your own calendar and appointments to support both your professional responsibilities and personal commitments

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Experience in bookkeeping, payroll processing, accounting, auditing, or commercial insurance
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and highly professional
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Teams, and other business software
  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel throughout the assigned territory

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience conducting insurance premium audits
  • Experience analyzing payroll and accounting records
  • Knowledge of insurance classifications and manual rules

Compensation & Earning Potential

At RLD Associates, Premium Auditors are compensated based on billable audit hours, providing a direct connection between productivity and earnings.

Pay Structure

  • $30 per billable hour base rate for audits conducted from home, higher rates up to $45 per billable hour paid for audits requiring travel to insured's location.
  • Annual earnings for this position would be estimated between $40,000 to $60,000
  • Control your schedule and earnings: With audits outside of your physical territory, you have the flexibility to increase or decrease your workload throughout the year to meet your income goals or maintain your desired work/life balance.

Why People Stay in This Job

• Real schedule freedom. Insured contact (visits and calls) happens during business hours — but you decide when. Everything else — the analysis, the worksheets, the report writing — happens whenever you want: early mornings, evenings, weekends. Around your kids, your classes, your life.

• No micromanagement. Each audit comes with a due date. Hit your due dates and the how, when, and where are entirely up to you. No daily check-ins, no activity tracking, no one looking over your shoulder.

• Variety without chaos. Every audit is a different business — a roofing contractor one day, a restaurant group the next. The work stays interesting, but the process is consistent and learnable.

• A genuine career path. Premium audit experience is scarce and in demand. The skills you build here — financial analysis, classification, client communication — are valued across the insurance industry.
