Job Description Now Hiring an English Teacher (Grades 6-12) - Residential School Vermont Permanency Initiative (New England School for Girls) Bennington, VT | Full-Time | Monday-Friday | Year-Round | $47,000-$60,000+ based on experience and certifications Inspire Learning. The Vermont Permanency Initiative (VPI) is seeking a passionate English Teacher at the New England School for Girls, a residential school serving students in grades 6-12, to provide general education services and work collaboratively as part of a team with planning, instructing, and special education services. Our ideal candidate will demonstrate knowledge of Common Core, the Vermont Proficiency-based Graduation Requirements, and 21st Century learning, understanding, and applications of best practices in teaching and learning in English Language Arts. Is enthusiastic, student centered and committed to educating all students to high standards and establish and maintain standards of student behavior conducive to an effective learning environment. What You'll Do Deliver engaging English Language Arts instruction for middle and high school students Create lesson plans that support reading, writing, communication, and critical thinking skills Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs Collaborate with special education staff, clinicians, and residential teams Implement IEP accommodations and monitor student progress Foster a positive, structured classroom environment that promotes achievement and growth Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in English, Education, or a related field Vermont Teaching License or eligibility to obtain licensure Must be at least 21 years of age Experience working with youth preferred Special education or residential school experience a plus Don't have Vermont certification yet? Vermont Permanency Initiative (VPI), a program at Mount Prospect Academy, provides residential, educational, clinical, and permanency-focused services for adolescents and young adults. Our mission is to help youth build meaningful connections, develop life skills, and achieve long-term success through compassionate, trauma-informed care. Welcome to ATX Learning Mount Prospect Academy offers a 220 day academic program and 365 day intensive residential program. We serve 85 male students who range from 11 to 21 years old. The state of New Hampshire has identified our students for intensive residential placement and in-home social services. MPA students can be clinically identified as emotionally handicapped, learning disabled, autistic, or other health impaired. We also serve students with psychiatric and judicial issues. MPA has developed an expert understanding of this difficult-to-serve population's needs. Our programs regularly receive students from the care of their families, New Hampshire's Division of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF), The Sununu Youth Services Center, and intermediate care facilities such as the Nashua Children' Home, the Dover Children' Home, the Webster House, and the Orion House. MPA's mission is to provide a caring, safe therapeutic environment where students have the opportunity grow and acquire the skills they need to reach their educational and social potential.
