Job Description

About the Firm Eversheds Sutherland (US) LLP is part of a global law practice providing legal services to a broad range of clients, from small and mid‑sized businesses to the world’s leading multinational organizations. The firm combines deep local knowledge with global reach, supporting clients across industries and jurisdictions. Eversheds Sutherland is recognized for its collaborative culture, commitment to client service, and delivery of practical, commercially informed legal solutions. Position Summary The Business Intelligence Analyst works closely with the Director of Data & Analytics to develop content and to analyze and interpret the firm’s financial and operational data, delivering insight that firm leadership, practice groups, and partners rely on to make decisions. The Analyst builds and maintains the semantic models, dashboards, and reports at the center of the firm’s reporting, working on a modern and evolving Microsoft analytics platform (Power BI and Microsoft Fabric). The role combines strong analytical and technical capabilities with excellent communication skills and sound judgment, using AI-assisted tools responsibly to improve the quality, efficiency, and scalability of analytics work. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides financial reporting, analysis, and decision support to the firm’s leadership, timekeepers, and various departments, partnering with stakeholders to understand the question behind each request and how the answer will be used.
  • Designs, builds, and maintains reusable, well-governed semantic models and analytical data products, including Power BI dashboards and Paginated Reports.
  • Analyzes the drivers of firm performance, including partner and practice-group profitability, client and matter profitability, pricing and rate realization, and timekeeper productivity.
  • Owns data quality by building and maintaining documented validation and reconciliation checks against source financial systems, so that reporting is accurate, consistent, and defensible.
  • Maintains metric definitions, business glossary content, semantic model documentation, data lineage, and supporting metadata, and contributes to the firm’s broader data-governance practices.
  • Coordinates with users to answer data inquiries, provides ad hoc analysis as required, and enables governed self-service analytics to reduce repetitive reporting over time.
  • Uses firm-approved AI-assisted analytics and development tools to accelerate research, coding, documentation, testing, and automation. Independently validates AI-generated output and complies with firm policy.
  • Partners with data engineering, application, and source-system teams to define data requirements, resolve data issues, and support the delivery of curated, analytics-ready data.
  • Handles confidential and privileged information appropriately, respecting ethical walls and information barriers.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or analytical field (e.g., finance, accounting, economics, statistics, computer science, or information/data systems) from an accredited college or university.
  • 5+ years of experience in data analysis and report development.
  • Previous experience working with the Aderant financial system preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL (T-SQL) and Microsoft Excel for data analysis.
  • Experience using Python for scripting, automation, and data processing.
  • Advanced experience developing Power BI dashboards and Paginated Reports, including semantic and dimensional data modeling, DAX, and Power Query (M).
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric or a comparable modern analytics platform. Familiarity with OneLake, Lakehouse or Warehouse architecture, data pipelines, and Direct Lake is preferred.
  • Experience with source control using Git.
  • Experience using AI-assisted analytics and development tools to support coding, documentation, testing, and automation, with demonstrated judgment in reviewing and validating AI-generated output.
  • Clear and effective communication skills to convey complex concepts to both technical and non-technical users.
  • Attention to detail in data analysis and reporting

The range for this position is from $110,00 - $140,000, with offers contingent upon the various factors. The firm’s compensation strategy includes not just a base salary but also comprehensive benefits such as healthcare, paid time off, discretionary merit bonuses, life and disability insurance, retirement plans and tailored learning opportunities. Eversheds Sutherland (US) LLP is committed to promoting diversity and inclusion within our Firm and in the larger legal profession.
