Job Description JOB SUMMARYIn conjunction with the Division Leadership, guides the division’s overall direction, growth, budget, and culture. Manages event services for the division, including related programs, personnel, and initiatives. Leads the strategic planning process of event services to meet goals and objectives.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Theatre Management, Public Administration, or other closely related field, plus six (6) years of related experience in arts/event management or a public or private performing arts program, of which two (2) years must have been supervisory; OR an equivalent combination of related education and experience. Education may not be substituted for the required supervisory experience.Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must pass a required background check through fingerprinting and enrollment in the continuous RAP Back (Record of Arrest and Prosecution Back) program in accordance with current County Human Resources policy requirements. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSServes on Arts & Culture Executive Team, working with Division Director and Associate Division Directors on strategic planning, goal setting, implementation, and decision-making for the agency.Through Venue Manager and direct supervision of the Arts & Culture event management staff, oversees the assignment of clients, ensuring proper management of events, and assessing the quality of work product and professionalism.Manages, directs, and coordinates activities through managers and supervisors, including hiring, firing, promoting, orienting, training, assigning, reviewing work performance, conducting annual work performance appraisals, and administering discipline.Maximizes event-booking potential across all Arts & Culture venues in coordination with division leadership, management, and event staff; projects event revenues for the annual budget.Evaluates and implements rental rates in coordination with the Fiscal team and the Division/County.Oversees all event bookings, from initial contact with clients to settlement, to ensure outstanding customer service and client satisfaction; initiates and conducts meetings with a variety of staff and clients.Oversees event contract negotiation and management in cooperation with Division leadership and the County District Attorney. Resolves any event-contract disputes; ensures event management staff are updated on any contractual changes; works with the Director and event management staff to develop policies and procedures for events.Manages and oversees Arts & Culture event calendars. Communicates with division leadership, management, staff, and concessionaire to coordinate all event requirements.Manages and oversees Arts & Culture event administration, including maintaining appropriate software programs and internal policies, procedures, and practices to ensure the successful execution of all event management functions. This includes coordinating with the Eccles Theater, Operations, Community Engagement, and Administrative teams to ensure the successful implementation of overlapping operations.Under the supervision of the Patron Services Manager, provides overall management for the Patron Services Program; ensures the program delivers excellent customer service to all patrons and that safety measures are adhered to with proper staff training.Through supervision of the ArtTix Manager, provides overall general management for ArtTix; oversees and approves policy and procedures regarding ticket sales for all Arts & Culture venues; ensures that ArtTix provides ticketing services to all patrons in conjunction with current industry standards.Leads the Arts & Culture Residency Program and works with the Director on issues and policy changes; manages the periodic Resident Review program.Participates in the development of, and planning for, new construction of venues and renovation of existing venues as applicable.Acts as Division Director in the absence of the Director.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA)Knowledge of:Event Management principles, methods, and techniquesContract negotiation practicesResident Art Organization structure, function, and operationStaff developmentOrganizational developmentBudget preparation and managementStrategic planningMentoring and coachingSkills and Abilities to:Work with computer software related to job-specific dutiesEffectively supervise and manage othersManage event schedules in multiple theatres with multipleResolve conflicts effectively and maintain professionalism in times of stressCommunicate effectively both verbally and in writingAnalyze and solve problemsEstablish and maintain appropriate working/supervision relationshipsMeet and work effectively with the public, event promoters, media, Resident organizations, and the communityAct independently and manage several projects simultaneouslyDevelop, interpret, and administer policies and procedures Additional Information Salt Lake County: A career with a purpose in the community you love!Salt Lake County invites you to explore our exciting career opportunities.
