ADJUNCT FACULTY - BIOLOGY, PART-TIME TRUMAN COLLEGE

Truman College is currently seeking a part-time faculty to teachBiology. Applicants who have experience working with diversestudent population and can create an inclusive climate are idealfor this position. If you have demonstrated success in theclassroom by developing and using effective teaching strategiesthat engage the students in critical thinking and problem-solving,you are encouraged to apply for this position.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

You must demonstrate excellence inteaching, commitment to integrating new technologies in thelearning process and the ability to inspire, motivate and empowerstudents to succeed. Design courses to meet learningoutcomes, and promote students’ active participation in their ownlearning. You are required to post your syllabion Bright Space, return all graded assessments to the studentspromptly and to enter your midterm and final grades online ontime. Create an effective learningenvironment that fosters students’ intellectual curiosity and helpsstudents to problem solve using discipline-specific thinkingstrategies. Encourage students with research possibilities. Maintain office hours so you areavailable to the students outside classroom hours and meet withother faculty members and department chair when necessary. Contribute to and provide leadershipin the student’s academic and professional communities and promotecollaboration and teamwork among members of thesecommunities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Doctoral or master’s degree inbiology, Medical Sciences, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Botany,Zoology, Animal Sciences, Environmental Biology, Genetics, Anatomyand Physiology, or an MD degree. Previous teaching experience ispreferred. Excellent Oral and writtencommunication skills preferred. We prefer candidates with knowledge ofBright Space Learning Management System. Salary Range: $800 - $943/contact hour The rate paid is in accordance with City Colleges approvedsalary scale.
